Custom S.p.A., a Parma, Italy-based technology solutions provider, has introduced TK306, which it describes as the smallest LED color printer, according to a press release.
The printer, which is available to the kiosk industry, delivers 1200 dpi resolution. Its LED head technology has no moving components and requires no nozzle maintenance like inkjet and laser printers.
The technology eliminates the need for pre-orders of prints and unused post-event tickets — difficulties encountered throughout the entertainment sector but also throughout the meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions sector. The technology is especially suitable for visual identification applications such as badges, tickets, ID cards and labels.
The LED technology in the TK306 printer reduces the distance between light source and print media, as opposed to laser printers which, having a single laser beam directed by mirrors to send light to the printing drum, require a complex internal structure and very large actual printer body.
