Connected Technology Solutions expands operations to bring more manufacturing in-house

February 28, 2018

Connected Technology Solutions Inc. has leased a 42,590-square-foot building near its Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, headquarters to expand its operations and bring more of its manufacturing in-house, according to a press release. The new operation represents a more than $1 million investment in new equipment.

The company could create up to 30 jobs in Menomonee Falls as it brings some parts manufacturing in-house and begins assembling 3-D printers.

The company specializes in making digital kiosks used for patients checking into clinics or hospitals, and for retailers.

Through a partnership with Resa Wearables Inc., CTS is making kiosks on the floors of Costco stores that measure shoppers' feet, and use 3-D printers to make orthotic shoe insoles on the spot.

CTS will start assembling the printers from the circuit boards up, creating about 12 to 15 new jobs this year, said Sandra Nix, company president and CEO. The company also will begin fabricating plastic components for its kiosks in the leased building.

The company has been relying on outside manufacturers to make the kiosk parts that are assembled in Menomonee Falls, Nix said. It can take eight to 12 weeks for outside companies to make some parts.

By fabricating some parts in-house, CTS can cut down on the inventory of products it has in storage since the parts can be made in about 10 days.
