DALLAS - CompUSA Inc., the U.S. computer superstore company, opened its first Cozone store today at Plaza America, San Diego.
Cozone, at about 5,000 square feet, is smaller than CompUSA stores. It focuses on mobile products, including PDA's, pagers, cell phones, MP3 players, GPS systems, digital cameras, camcorders, PC games and accessories, portable DVD players and laptops. Each store will use electronic kiosks for consumer services and an Internet cafe where customers can check e-mail and surf the Web.
Rather than a warehouse setting, it will have wood-tone floors, high-tech lighting fixtures and a large interactive plasma screen as a focal point.
CompUSA Inc. operates 218 computer superstores in 84 metropolitan markets across the U.S. Many of the stores include classroom training facilities.
