Anythink Libraries will open its first fully self-service Express Library on Oct. 28 in the Reunion community of Commerce City, Colorado, according to a press release.
The compact branch, located in a shopping district at 15400 E. 103rd Place, will operate seven days a week, offering residents access to library resources without a traditional staffed service desk. The facility is designed to provide convenient library services while allowing the district to expand access without establishing a conventional full-service branch.
The Anythink Reunion Express Library will feature self-checkout stations, shelves for reserved materials, book return bins and a curated collection of popular titles. Visitors will also have access to public computers, free Wi-Fi, printing, copying and faxing services. Adults 18 and older can request access through their existing Anythink library cards, while children and teenagers must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Security measures include surveillance cameras, sensors and overnight patrols.
Although the branch will not have a conventional service desk, Anythink employees will regularly maintain the facility, replenish materials and provide assistance by phone. The library system said the concept was inspired by Jefferson County Public Library's Express Library West Arvada, which opened in 2022. Anythink expects the model to provide more flexible access to library services while making efficient use of taxpayer funding.
