Colombia's Information Communications and Technology Ministry has installed 104 digital kiosks across the Bolivar Department.
The government invested COP 30 bllion in the project (more than $12 million), according to telecommunications resource Telecompaper, with the most recent deployment in Arroyo de las Canoas. The ICT plans to deploy a total of 340 digital kiosks in the department across rural areas, the article said.
According to the ICT website, the government is developing a "digital ecosystem" over the next four years to bridge the technological divide in Colombia. The Live Digital plan is an effort "to achieve democratic prosperity," and reduce unemployment and poverty, the site said.
