November 2, 2003

BELLEVUE, Wash. -- Coinstar Inc. has signed an agreement with Ahold USA that includes all six of its supermarket operating companies.

Coinstar machines are now installed in about half of Ahold USA's supermarket locations, and the companies currently have scheduled 250 new installations, which should be completed by February 2004, according to a news release.

"Coinstar has had a strong and productive relationship with a number of Ahold's grocery chains since 1996, and we're very pleased to announce that the relationship has expanded and that we will continue to bring value to their operations," said Rich Stillman, Coinstar president

Ahold USA's 1,200 supermarket chains are located in the Northeast and Southeast regions of the United States, and include BI-LO, Bruno's, Giant-Landover, Giant-Carlisle, Tops Markets, and Stop & Shop. Coinstar is installed in about 660 Ahold supermarkets today.

"We're pleased to expand our relationship with Coinstar," said Barry Scher, vice president of public affairs and communications at Ahold USA. "Our priority is taking care of our customers, adding value, and serving their needs for food and food related products and services."
