BELLEVUE, Wash. - Coinstar now has a presence in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, with the recent addition of locations in North Dakota and South Dakota.
Since installing its first four machines in the San Francisco Bay area in 1992, Coinstar's coin counting network has grown to include more than 11,000 self-service machines in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.
"At the heart of Coinstar's success is the ability to satisfy an unmet need: how to easily convert the estimated $10.5 billion in change that sits unused in American homes into cash," said Rich Stillman, president of Coinstar.
To date, Coinstar has counted more than $8.5 billion in change on behalf of its customers through more than 245 million transactions. The Coinstar machines installed in North and South Dakota offer self-service coin counting, as well as pay-as-you-go products including a prepaid MasterCard Card and prepaid wireless airtime.
