PHOENIX - ClipACoupon.com has added its resources to the growing list of companies whose services are available on kiosks at 35 Circle K convenience stores in the Phoenix area. ClipACoupon has reached an agreement with kiosk technology company Info Touch Technologies (IFT:CDNX), which has installed the kiosks for Circle K, to offer web-based coupons at the kiosks.
"Kiosk-based couponing technology is not only rewarding for the customers, but also a business driver for the retail establishment," Hamed Shahbazi, Info Touch chairman and chief executive officer, said in a news release.
ClipACoupon joins wireless infrared technology company Clarinet Systems Inc. and marketing firm Net eVantage Inc. in offering their services at Circle K's Phoenix-area ZapLink kiosks. Clarinet is offering personal digital assistant downloading capabilities (See story: Infrared capability added to Circle K kiosks), while Net eVantage is marketing products available at the AsSeenOnTV.com Web site through the kiosks (See story: Circle K bringing infomercials to kiosks).
The kiosks also offer Internet access, video teleconferencing, local news and information, telecommunications, and bill-paying functions.
Circle K deployed the kiosks earlier this fall as part of a pilot program. Global Access Alliance Inc. installed 40 kiosks at Circle K stores in Philadelphia and selected truck stops in the southeast (See story: Ten gallons of unleaded, ten minutes of kiosk access). Circle K's parent company, Phillips 66 Co. plans to deploy about 1,200 kiosks nationally if the test program is judged a success.
[Editor's note: Info Touch Technologies became Tio Networks in April 2006.]
