CashMe kiosk is 'an ATM for people who don't have a bank'

June 6, 2010

The Florida-Times Union reports on the startup CashMe, whose product is a check-cashing kiosk aimed at the unbanked.

Users scan their driver's license to start the transaction. After a background check is performed, the machine accepts business- and government-issued checks and dispenses cash or prepaid cards.

None of the kiosks have been placed yet, according to the article, but the inventor and patent-holder said he expects to place the first 50 within the next few months.
