Car wash selects touchscreen POS system

October 15, 2003

AUSTIN, Texas -- Delta Sonic, a car wash and convenience retailer based in the Northeast, has chosen Wincor Nixdorf's BEETLE/iPOS systems and Pinnacle Corp.'s retail-application software for its store systems.

Delta Sonic is implementing Pinnacle Corp.'s Palm V7 software, a Windows-based point-of-sale system utilizing touchscreen technology and designed for the convenience store and petroleum industries, according to a news release. Pinnacle Corp. is a Wincor Nixdorf reseller.

Delta Sonic chose the BEETLE /iPOS hardware platform, complete with the Intel Pentium III processor and 15.1-inch LCD touchscreen, and peripherals including Ultimate pole displays, MMF cash drawers, Epson printers, and Symbol scanners. The solution will be installed in all of Delta Sonic's 26 stores by the end of 2003.

"Delta Sonic was looking for the POS platform that provided the best support for Pinnacle's Palm V software," said Tom Noonan, director of operations for Delta Sonic.

"Our wish list included an embedded operating system, small footprint, ease-of-use for our cashiers, and simple service requirements for our technicians. The BEETLE /iPOS was an exact fit for our requirements."

BEETLE addresses the complete spectrum of retail touchpoints, including thin-client POS terminals, lean-and thick-client POS systems, self-service kiosks, inquiry and service desk workstations, and mobile POS devices.
