Car rental app adds more self-service to travel booking

A new app for Windows phone users will make booking a rental car a hand-held convenience. The Hertz Corp. announced today the app that lets users locate, book, modify and search car rental reservations from their mobile device, according to a company press release.

The app capitalizes on the growing trend of consumers who use mobile devices to research and book travel, the announcement said, citing eMarketer research that found around 36 million people use a mobile device to research their travel options and 16 million use a mobile device to actually book their reservations. 

"Hertz now has an app available on all four of the major smartphone platforms, which shows our commitment to staying current with the latest technology," said Mark P. Frissora, chairman and CEO for Hertz. "More and more consumers are using a mobile device to book travel, and Hertz's Windows app brings speed and ease to life across these platforms."
