PALO ALTO, Calif., and SAN DIEGO - One of the largest consumer electronics retailers in Canada will be the first to install a photo-finishing product developed by HP and Phogenix Imaging LLC.
Future Shop, a division of Best Buy Inc., will test the DFX Digital Photo Finishing System in an unspecified number of stores in an attempt to provide an alternative to traditional photo finishing services, according to a joint release from HP and Phogenix.
HP's consumer kiosks will be networked with the DFX mini-lab, bringing convenience to customers and allowing Future Shop to incorporate existing retail store infrastructure, the release said.
The system carries a retail price of $39,900. It is a digital mini-lab that replaces chemical paper processing with commercial thermal inkjet technology. It is the first consumer trial for HP and Phogenix.
