Interactive visitor information kiosks in Salmon Arm, British Columbia have been turned off after an interactive screen at Marine Park was displaying content not selected by the Salmon Arm Economic Development Society, the organization overseeing the kiosk operations.

At one point, a kiosk was displaying a dating website, according to a Salmon Arm Observer report.

"As soon as we were notified, we shut the kiosk down," Lana Fitt, SAEDS economic development manager, told the news outlet. "They've been shut down as of early [June 10], and we won't reactivate them until we can address this and make sure they stay securely in that kiosk mode for the duration of their operation."

Fitt also told the news outlet that someone must have been able to "breach the kiosk mode" and access the internet to display content that was not related to visitor information. She is optimistic the glitch will be resolved and the kiosks will return to their intended purpose.
