CALGARY, Alberta - Canadian chain Mac's Convenience stores will unroll 50 e-service terminals this year as part of the company's Store 2000 concept to modernize the convenience store experience.
Mac's teamed with kiosk developer Info Touch Technologies Corp. (CDNX:IFT) and computer manufacturer Compaq Canada for the deployment, which follows an earlier trial program. The rollout has already begun and will continue over the next 3-4 months, according to Info Touch Media Relations Manager Behshad Hastibakhsh.
The kiosks will offer coupons, interactive maps, bill-payment facilities, and Internet access. Revenue will be generated from usage fees. Store 2000 is a strategic initiative set up by Mac's parent company, Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc., to offer a wider range of products and services at its c-stores.
"The e-services expansion program falls well within our business model to venture innovation solutions and promote incremental growth," said Dave Cowley, Mac's senior category manager, in a news release.
Alimentation Couche-Tard operates nearly 2,000 c-stores in Canada and the Midwest.
