CalorieLab: School lunchrooms around the country are increasingly implementing point-of-sale touchscreen payment terminals that kids can use to order their lunches - and which allow parents to monitor via a Web page the foods that their kids are ordering. Parents deposit funds into the systems by check or credit card. Credits for low-income subsidized lunches can also be deposited, reducing the stigma often associated with such programs. Since cash is not required, kids can't lose their lunch money, use it to buy Little Debbie snacks on the way to school, or have it taken away by bullies.
