Breakroom Provisions integrates micro markets fraud prevention from ECRS

To address the problem of theft from micro markets, Breakroom Provisions is introducing an anti-theft solution from its technology partner ECRS.

The technology, which combines integrated image capture with an anti-theft "widget," is part of the ECRS mobile-ready, HTML 5 office suite for vending micro markets.

The new anti-theft feature enables operators to view the top 20 customers who undertake potentially fraudulent transactions, such as "all voids," "item corrects" and "returns." It also looks for "sweet-hearting," where kiosk attendants might be helping friends commit fraud.

To implement the feature, a camera kit is mounted on top of the kiosk or built into the terminal. Suspicious transactions trigger the camera to capture an image of the user. Captured images are automatically associated with the transaction detail and displayed graphically on the anti-theft widget. Current Breakroom Provisions micro markets sites will be able to purchase a camera kit to install on their existing kiosks, the firm says.
