When Oscar Perez received difficult news from his doctor that his health was in danger, he decided to improve his diet. Perez spent the next two years researching ingredients for protein shakes, eventually developing his "secret recipe."

Perez then faced the dilemma of getting his product on the market. After studying juice bars and other retail options, he landed on an idea: High tech vending machines could distribute the shakes.

Finally, after more research, Perez selected a self-service kiosk, built by AVT, that could make each shake one at a time, and Blint Shakes was born. Now Founder and CEO Oscar Perez  has been named "Hero of the Month" by Latino Fitness Magazine.

Blint Shakes recently struck a deal with a large fitness chain in the U.S. to distribute the kiosks nationwide

Perez, said in a statement that he is pleased to be "Hero of the Month," but attributed his success to his family, "the real heroes."

"They have to put up with me, through my sickness and through the countless hours I spent developing this company," he said. "I never would have made it this far without their support."
