Behr Paints uses kiosks to make paint selection easier

November 4, 2003

NOVATO, Calif. -- Scene7, provider of dynamic imaging software, said Behr Paints licensed Scene7's Infinite Imaging Platform to launch an in-store kiosk and Web site application to help consumers select and coordinate paint colors.

According to a news release, Behr Paints, the largest provider of premium paints and stains to the North American do-it-yourself home-improvement market, is using the technology to inspire consumers and make the paint-selection process easier with ColorSmart by Behr.

"Scene7 offers exceptional visualization technology for our ColorSmart by Behr system. Our goal with The Home Depot is to help improve the overall in-store buying experience for consumers," said Mary Rice, vice president of marketing at Behr Paints.

"Initial consumer reaction is encouraging based on trends we've seen in Home Depot stores."

Behr Paints is the first company to deploy Scene7's Infinite Imaging Platform for an in-store kiosk and Web site application. The application lets consumers choose from thousands of Behr colors and apply them to walls and ceilings in room scenes real-time.

It recommends other coordinating colors and sheens, provides lightening or darkening of color tones, and then allows customers to print out the results and bring to a store sales associate.

The software will eventually allow customers to save and retrieve their designs online at home or in-store for future revisions, the release said.
