Baltimore to have 7 wayfinding kiosks

April 22, 2019

Baltimore is getting seven interactive wayfinding kiosks offering residents and visitors a range of features, from selfies to insight on transportation to recommendations for dining and city services.

The project is a partnership between the Downtown Partnership of Baltimore and IKE Smart City, a Columbus, Ohio-based kiosk manufacturer that has also partnered with Denver, San Antonio, Columbus and other cities, according to a Technically Baltimore report.

The kiosks are being placed in high traffic areas and will offer digital displays on both sites and also offer insight on public safety and air quality.

"Baltimore is a rising tech city, and the installation of the IKE kiosk platform reflects that," IKE CEO Pete Scantland said in a press release on the project. "It's an interactive portal to everything in the city, available to everyone in the city."

The kiosks will generate revenue via advertising that will cover all costs involved.
