The United States Patent and Trademark Office has approved AVT Inc.'s patent application on the company's technology regarding a wireless system designed to manage a network of remote vending machines. The technology also incorporates graphical user touchscreen interfaces, which can include means for paying for items vended; and a two-way wireless network to connect the enterprise control center with the remote vending machines.
"AVT spent almost three years dedicated to research and development — designing componentry and entire new systems that are literally redefining the retailing world," Shannon Illingworth, founder and chairman of AVT, said in a company press release. "Our efforts have been rewarded with several patents, which not only confirm our engineering strength, but also secure our leadership position in the automated retailing industry."
Illingworth and James Winsor, CEO of AVT, filed the patent that covers 19 claims.
"AVT's innovative technologies — such as our new payment systems — are being adopted at an unprecedented rate," Winsor said. "Our developments, systems and designs have reshaped vending and self-service automated retailing transactions, and are now the gold standard for the entire industry."
