AUSTIN, Texas -- Applied Science Fiction's Digital PIC kiosk won PC Magazine's Technical Excellence Award in the digital imaging category, according to a company news release on Dec. 11.
The readers of Photo Trade News chose the kiosk as winner of the Top Overall Technology for 2002 award.
The Digital PIC kiosk develops 35mm film and places the high-resolution images on a digital CD instead of traditional negatives. The film is developed using a non-toxic developing agent. A 24-exposure roll of film is developed and stored on the DigiPIX CD in less than 10 minutes.
The finished CD includes thumbnail-size images that can be accessed as high-, medium- or low-resolution files for printing, storage or distribution through e-mail.
Digital PIC will be featured in the January 2003 issue of Photo Trade News.
PC Magazine will list ASF as a winner in its Dec. 24 issue.
Last month, Digital PIC received Popular Science magazine's annual "Best of What's New" award in the photo category.
