ARCA has announced the installation of the ARCA CM18 cash recycler at Y-12 Federal Credit Union, an Oak Ridge, Tenn.-based FI serving 78,000 members in an eight-county area. Y-12 chose the CM18 to solve an unusual drive-through branch issue.
Unlike many traditional financial institutions, Y-12 FCU has an off-site drive-thru facility, which presents unique security and efficiency challenges. According to branch manager M.J. Hutchinson, the ARCA CM18 was the solution the FI was looking for.
Three auto lanes run off the CM18, so it's vital that it takes in as much cash as possible without downtime, Hutchison said. "We can't troubleshoot it, because we don't have cash out there. It's important that we bought a machine that stayed up—and this machine has been dependable."
In more typical applications, the CM18 cash recycler eliminates exposed cash drawers for tellers in branches. Cash is stored inside the unit's UL 291 safe, which automatically counts, authenticates and secures cash deposited by customers, resulting in reduced transaction times, improved teller accuracy, increased security and more efficient control over cash inventory, ARCA said. The company has partnered with Italy-based CTS Cashpro to bring their cash recycling technology to the United States.
