App allows virtual branch design on a tablet

January 13, 2014

A new tablet-based visualization technology developed by Wincor Nixdorf partner company MXM allows self-service devices to be integrated into actual pictures of branches, creating a "mixed reality" view. This allows employees responsible for setting up a branch to "see" the redesigned environment simply and quickly.

A special visualization app displays the photo of a self-service site on a tablet PC. From another app on the display, the user selects the desired self-service model, which is integrated into the site photo. The resulting image gives the user the impression of actually standing in the redesigned branch environment.

Using various function options, the user can change the color of the self-service model, place people of different heights in front of the system to check privacy, or change the flooring in front of the machine. Different versions of the image can be saved to the tablet for later review.

The app will be on exhibit at the Wincor World trade fair, Jan. 21–23, at the A2 Forum in Rheda-Wiedenbrück, Germany.
