SAO PAULO, Brazil - An alliance between two of America's most recognizable companies will give Brazilians the chance to experience online technology through the use of kiosks.
America Online's Brazil subsidiary and Wal-Mart Brazil have joined in a marketing alliance to promote AOL's services through Wal-Mart and Sam's Club locations throughout Brazil. Wal-Mart Brazil currently operates 12 Wal-Mart supercenters and eight Sam's Club locations in four Brazilian states, including Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
As part of the agreement, AOL will install demonstration kiosks and Wal-Mart and selected Sam's Club stores. The kiosks will explain AOL's services to new customers and offer online registration.
AOL officials said the company has more than one million subscribers in the Latin America region. AOL Brazil was the company's first local service in Latin America, launching in November of 1999.
