FREMONT, Calif. — American Portwell Technology, Inc., an innovator in the embedded computing market, announced its new WEBS family of embedded system solutions based on Intel's Atom processor.
The self-contained systems, which are compact, fanless and utilize the low-power, high-performance-per-watt advantages of the Atom processor, can enhance applications in the medical, healthcare automation, automation test equipment, industrial automation, gaming, kiosk, thin-client and digital signage markets.
Each member of the WEBS family — which consists of the WEBS-2120, WEBS-1310/1320 and WEBS-3330/4330 — is a complete self-contained system that dispenses with the need for a custom chassis and customer concerns about heat dissipation.
The WEBS-2120 — built with Portwell's Nano-ITX embedded system board — measures less than the size of Apple's Mac mini.
The WEBS-2120 (Nano-ITX) and WEBS-1310/1320 (ECX) use Intel Atom processor Z510/Z530 and Intel System Controller Hub (SCH) US15W. WEBS-3330/4330 (Mini-ITX) are based on Intel's Atom N270 processor and Intel 945GSE and ICH7-M chipset.
The WEBS family also includes one 200-pin SO-DIMM that supports DDR2 SDRAM up to 2GB; Secure Digital Card, Type II Compact Flash and 2.5-inch HDD storage. Dual display byVGA/DVI is standard in WEBS-3330 and WEBS-4330.
"Our new WEBS family takes full advantage of the low-power consumption of Intel's Atom-based processors," said Jack Lam, American Portwell Technology senior product marketing manager. "For example, the WEBS-1310, WEBS-1320 and WEBS-2120 consume a mere 5 watts — which a commercial netbook computer cannot offer — while the WEBS-3330 and WEBS-4330 consume just 10 watts. In addition to low power consumption, members of the WEBS family provide a far smaller footprint than competitive solutions because they take advantage of Portwell's ECX, Nano-ITX and Mini-ITX embedded system board technologies. What's more, for any OEM that wants to turn an existing embedded computing solution into a DC power-based application, Portwell offers the GADIWA series power supplies. The GADIWA power supply product family works with all Portwell's WEBS embedded systems."
