April 21, 2010
American Portwell Technology Inc. has released a new 3.5-inch compact embedded system board that includes all of the performance enhancing advanced features gained from Intel second-generation single core and dual core Atom processors.
The new compact (5.75-inch x 4.00-inch or 146mm x 105mm) PEB-2780VG2A embedded system board is designed for applications such as medical devices, industrial automation, high-end vending machines and in-vehicle infotainment.
Based on Intel Atom N450 (single core) and D510 (dual core) processors with Intel 82801HM I/O controllers, the PEB-2780VG2A supports DDR2 667 non-ECC system memory up to 2GB, dual display via VGA and LVDS, dual Gigabit Ethernet, onboard 12V DC input, two SATA interfaces, one 44-pin IDE connector, Type II Compact Flash socket, six USB ports, four serial ports and GPIO. Expansion capabilities include a connector with PCI-E x1 signal for a daughter board.
According to Frank Shen, American Portwell Technology's product marketing director, the compact PEB-2780VG2A board benefits from the Atom processor's low power needs and low heat output; it can function in fanless and battery-operated applications.
"Customers that use first-generation Intel Atom processors and need some extra features will be very happy to see this product," said Jack Lam, American Portwell Technology's senior product marketing manager via press release.
