FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Alamo Rent A Car has introduced what it calls an industry first -- a product that lets customers rent a car online.
Alamo' QuickRent solution allows customers to bypass the rental counter by choosing all their options online, electronically signing the rental agreement and using Alamo's ATM-style Quicksilver kiosk at Alamo locations nationwide.
QuickRent debuts this month in 36 cities across the United States, including Orlando, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Tampa, San Diego and other popular vacation spots.
Car rental companies have allowed customers to reserve a car online since 1995, Alamo claims, but only customers who belonged to frequent traveler clubs or similar programs could avoid renting a car at bricks and mortar sites.
QuickRent combines the alamo.comWeb site with Alamo's Quicksilver kiosk network. Customers can make all their car rental decisions online at alamo.com; identify and compare the costs of different car types; select options typically purchased at the rental counter; and calculate the total cost of their car rental before picking up the car. Any last-minute changes can be made online as well until the day the car is picked up at Alamo.
""With QuickRent, we can leverage the significant investment we've made in the Alamo Web site not only to enhance ease-of-use for our customers, but also to provide additional operational economies to increase our shareholder value," said ANC board chairman and CEO Michael Egan.
