Alabama med center kiosk eases child health insurance enrollment

February 29, 2012

According to The Daily Sentinel in Scottsboro, Ala., A Scottsboro medical center has deployed an ALL Kids Insurance and Medicaid enrollment kiosk in its emergency room.

Parents of children without health insurance can submit an electronic insurance application via the kiosk to see if their child qualifies for ALL Kids. ALL Kids uses Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama to provide services through its network.

The deployment was made possible by the Alabama Access to Health Care Alliance.

Gary Turner, Highlands Medical Center chief revenue officer, calls the kiosk a strong advantage for the community.

"Now, when parents are here they can fill out the ALL Kids application to see if their child qualifies for the insurance program," said Turner. "No longer will parents have to fill out the application and wait to see if they are approved. This kiosk speeds the process up."
