Robotic airline check-in kiosks took center stage during the Air Transport IT Summit held in Brussels last week, according to USA Today. SITA, a global air transport IT provider owned by airlines and other air transport companies, served as a launching forum for KATE, a check-in kiosk that moves autonomously to where it is needed in an airport.
The kiosk can monitor flight information and determine where more check-in kiosks are needed. It uses geo-location and obstacle avoidance technologies.
The kiosks could be put on duty at offsite locations like convention centers and train stations.
