Air Miles Canada rewards fliers for smiles

Pro Display recently partnered with wonderMakr to roll out digital signage smile booth kiosks that rewarded Air Miles Canada fliers with prizes for giving their best smiles.

Pro Display recently partnered with wonderMakr to roll out smile booth kiosks that rewarded Air Miles Canada fliers with prizes for giving their best smiles. These kiosks were deployed during May to 57 locations across Canada as part of a promotional campaign for Air Miles Canada, according to a Pro Display press release.

The smile booths act as vending kiosks which were paired with a camera and touchscreens. Pro Display provided 47-inch LCD screens and 47-inch infrared touch frames. In order to use the device, users held up their Air Miles card and smiled. The camera captured the customer's face, and then sent the image to their email address. Then the kiosk randomly vended certain prizes for users.

The kiosk prizes included free Air Miles, concert tickets and other prizes. In addition, if the customers gave permission, their smiles would be featured on Air Miles digital signage billboards across Canada.

"It's about reinforcing to our collectors that Air Miles is an everyday brand that can pop up and make your everyday experiences a little bit better," said Raquel Macqueen, the Air Miles Reward Program vice president of marketing. "Over the first three days of the campaign, the booths had more than 1,000 direct interactions and more than 1 million social impressions."
