Advanced Kiosks, a provider self-service kiosks, is partnering with LanguageLine Solutions, a provider of on-demand language access, to provide audio and video interpretation services for over 240 languages, including American Sign Language.

These services will be offered through a kiosk system created with a mix of touchscreen technology and video conferencing capabilities, according to a press release.

LanguageLine has provided interpretation and translation services for almost 40 years, working with the limited English proficient and the deaf and hard-of-hearing communities.

Advanced Kiosks brings nearly 20 years creating ADA compliant self-service kiosks, allowing equal access to goods and services offered by their clients.

The companies recently conducted a pilot project to provide a remote help desk for San Francisco International Airport.

"After collaborating with LanguageLine on a pilot project, we quickly realized that LanguageLine's ability to provide immediate interpretation services was something that would be of tremendous value to many customers," Jeff LeBlanc, director of user experience at Advanced Kiosks, said in the release. "Healthcare organizations and government agencies are required to provide meaningful access to language services. By solving the language challenge, now kiosks can be made broadly available in many settings. Likewise, commercial businesses that have multilingual audiences may be more intrigued now that professional interpretation is available in more than 240 languages."

The first joint product offering will be a touchscreen kiosk to facilitate interpretation services with only a few taps on the screen. A user will be able to select a language to be interpreted and their preference for audio or using a dedicated video conferencing link, all without needing to look up any web addresses or phone numbers. Using a device with a dedicated computer screen will allow seamless support for ASL and video based interpretation.
