3DplusMe is helping to keep childhood dreams alive by allowing children to create 3D-printed action figures with their faces on the figures. The company has deployed its 3D printing kiosks at 24 Target locations in the greater Los Angeles area, according to a report by 3DPrint.
The figures cost $34.95 each. Users can choose from a variety of characters including Iron Man, Captain America, Spider-Man, Jedis and Stormtroopers.
"The process lets fans become part of their favorite storyline by making them an action figure that looks like them," said 3DplusMe founder Cydni Tetro. "Hundreds of thousands of people have gone through the experience. The company has also used its platform with MLB, NFL, Assassin's Creed and other brands."
3DplusMe has done similar deployments in the past, including one that allowed customers to print Major League Baseball player figures with the user's face superimposed on a player.
