The applications for kiosks become more widespread and innovative everyday, impacting industries such as retail, health care, hospitality and now health, nutrition and fitness. Gyms, restaurants, grocery stores, colleges and more are implementing kiosks to allow clientele to track the nutritional value in the foods they eat and monitor their fitness regimen.
Recently, the University of Maryland deployed kiosks in its cafeterias that allow students to monitor calories, sodium content and overall nutrition value of the foods served in the dining hall. Students are also able to compare nutrition values from several different meals to help choose which they would prefer to order. Restaurants and grocery stores are implementing similar kiosks allowing patrons to more easily manage their food and nutrition intake.
Gyms are also finding ways for members to use kiosks. For example, if a member misses a personal training session or just does not remember how many reps of an exercise he or she should do, kiosks are available to access and print off the day's workout plans. Trainers can save the workouts in their database and once members arrive at the gym, they use their membership card or unique member ID number at the kiosk to access and print out their workout regimen for the night.
Having access to the information they need anytime, anywhere is important for on-the-go consumers. Providing the ability to manage health and fitness routines is just one additional way that companies are using kiosks to benefit their customers.
