Exhibitors to showcase new products and features at The Kiosk Show

More than 550 attendees are expected at The Kiosk Show in Boston Oct. 7-8. Greeting them will be a host of applications and demonstrations from some of the industry's leading end-solution providers. Here is an early look at some of the expected exhibits.

Exhibitors scheduled to attend the third annual Kiosk Show, in Boston Oct. 7-8, have begun releasing details about their services and technologies to be showcased.

The Kiosk Show has more than 500 approved attendees and nearly 30 exhibitors. Twelve presentations are scheduled for audiences of all levels of kiosk sophistication. The show is unique in that it's targeted exclusively for the end-user. Exhibitors must present complete solutions or team up with other exhibitors to provide a turnkey package.

Exhibitor: Netkey
Headline Product: Netkey Software Platform v 6.2
Competitive pressures and the need for improved customer service are driving retailers, banks and other businesses to deploy multiple self-service applications and related devices, including kiosks, digital signs and plasma displays.

Diverse applications and unattended devices create operational and administrative burdens for IT professionals, said Netkey's director of marketing, Robert Ventresca.

Visitors will see a comprehensive solution for the management, monitoring and operation of networks of self-service kiosks and interactive systems. Netkey will demonstrate how its software platform can reduce IT workload, allow for centralized control, sustain maximum uptime and deliver multiple applications.

Exhibitor: KING Products & Solutions Inc.
Headline product: The Plynth & LINK kiosks product line
Turnkey-solution provider KING Products customizes total solutions for the market for unsupervised, public access kiosks. The company manufactures its own enclosures and develops its own kiosk and management server software. KING Products also engineers its own computer module to ensure a stable platform. Visitors will see a demonstration of specific software applications for the retail, airport, transit and bill payment sectors, said Robert Giblett, the company's director of North America sales and marketing.

Exhibitor: Kiosk Information Systems (KIS)
Headline product: Custom kiosks, Thinman and Stealth Series kiosks
Founded in 1993, KIS is an established leader in self-service terminals and kiosks with more than 900 transactional kiosk projects under its belt. Visitors to the show can see KIS kiosks for the photokiosk market as well as retail and financial service kiosks with transactional applications such as linebusting, bill payment, gift card, loyalty, digital media download, express ordering and ticketing. Human Resource applications for job kiosks and employee benefits will also be on display.

Exhibitor: Livewire International Inc.
Headline product: Ticketing kiosk
After making its mark in the ski industry, Livewire has taken its award-winning application to a variety of vertical markets. The Livewire booth will showcase a ticketing application delivered through a self-service kiosk, a Web-enabled attended ticket window, a wireless PDA, and an ATM. Additional standard kiosks applications include concierge, gift registry and human resources management. Michael Wentzel, VP of business development for the company, points out that his company is one of the few providers to successfully converge an ATM and a self-service kiosk. Livewire is an end-to-end full solution provider.

Exhibitor: Cox Sales Company, Kioskmaster USA Distribution
Headline product: Kioskmaster Product Line
Cox Sales Company, with a 25-year history of distribution, is a strategic partner for European kiosk producer Kioskmaster BV. Bill Cox, president of Cox Sales Company, will demonstrate the features of the Kioskmaster line, including the Series 5 kiosk. He will also discuss custom projects and applications including BlueTooth and RFID for new devices . Kioskmaster offers state-of-the-art Internet terminals and kiosks designed specifically for commercial deployments.

Exhibitor: D2 Sales, LLC
Headline product: Custom kiosk
D2 Sales designs, engineers, distributes and installs kiosks and interactive environments to house branded customer content. The company will announce its new manufacturing partnership with Nu-Way Industries and will premier a special kiosk design at the Kiosk Show, according to Sandra Nix, owner of D2 Sales. The featured kiosk boasts a modern look and can be economically customized for branded applications for both small and large production runs. Show attendees are invited to stop by the D2 booth to view a sampling of the company's portfolio.

Exhibitor: Pro-Tech
Headline product: DuraView FS kiosk and DuraView MS Kiosk
Pro-Tech will feature two styles of kiosks: the DuraView FS kiosk with a 15.1-inch display running a self-ordering, pre-pay application for a major quick-service restaurant, and the DuraView MS targeted for outdoor applications such as advertising/promotions at gas pumps. Pro-Tech president Peter Kaszycki will show his kiosks from the inside out to demonstrate how they are designed from an industrial standpoint. Pro-Tech will display a complete kiosk solution consisting of hardware, front- and back-end software, installation, remote monitoring and on-site service/support.

Exhibitor: St. Clair Interactive Communications
Headline product: Self-service transaction software
For more than 18 years, St. Clair has provided services to its clients to deliver self-service transactions in a variety of channels including kiosks, networks, Internet and digital TV.

St. Clair president Doug Peter, who has 22 years of industry experience, points out that his company offers 31 application software templates that can be mixed and matched, including the new Smart Order and Gift Card kiosk applications. The Gift Card application software template allows self-service access to purchase either value cards or branded cards with PIN access to stored value. Shoppers can also check remaining value on their cards/accounts.

Other exhibitors include Apunix, 5Point, Nanonation, IBM, Whitech, Richardson Electronics, Corporate Safe Specialists, Wise Village and TriSource Inc.
