Southlake Texas-based Geos Communications announced that its D Mobile unit's subsidiary Duo Guo has signed a retail partnership agreement with Gome, an electronics retail chain in China. Duo Guo is a Chinese division that operates a kiosk-based distribution network where consumers can download licensed mobile media content
Gome will initially launch the kiosks in 50 Shanghai area stores. Gome operates more than 1,000 stores in more than 50 cities in China. Geos, a digital content distribution company, reports the deal could be expanded to other Chinese cities.
Duo Guo reports it is the only legitimate retail channel for the discovery and download of licensed mobile media content in China. Mobile device users can use its kiosks to download games, movies, music, ring tones and applications. The kiosk network also serves as a channel for mobile downloadable services such as ticketing, coupon distribution and advertising. Duo Guo said it has established partnerships with major media content providers including Paramount Pictures, EA Mobile, Cartoon Network, Warner Music Group and others.
