Z Touch gets feel for touchscreen kiosks

February 25, 2002

LAS VEGAS - Saying it would revolutionize the way people access e-mail and the Internet using public-access terminals, Z Touch Systems Inc. recently unveiled its new line of pay-per-use, touchscreen access kiosks.

The Las Vegas-based company's ODIE (On Demand Interactive Environment) kiosk offers two features company officials said were notable. The first is ODIE's touchscreen application, which allows deployers to eliminate the keyboard, offering greater flexibility in the language choices available on the kiosk.

The other notable feature is ODIE's management network. Each machine networks to other ODIE machines, so customers who have time left in their session when they sign off will automatically get that time back on their next session.

Z Touch officials said the kiosk can also be used as a self-service checkout or Web catalog terminal, and can be installed in pay phones, against walls, or on bars.
