SEOUL, South Korea, and TOKYO -- With the World Cup soccer tournament kicking off on May 31 in Seoul, leading Internet search engine Yahoo! is leaping into the frame with portable Internet kiosks.
The kiosks, which will be available in Seoul and Tokyo, will offer fans the chance to surf the Internet and send messages to family and friends through e-mail and instant messaging. South Korea and Japan are co-hosting the tournament this year.
Yahoo!, which is hosting the official Web site of this year's tournament, will also offer fans a chance to access its World Cup subscription service via the kiosks. The subscription service, available for $19.95, will provide subscribers with four minutes of video highlights daily along with searchable highlights of each of the tournament's 32 teams, an historical archive, and contests.
The kiosks will also be available in Miami for American fans who are unable to make it to the event. The tournament runs through June 30.
