Wright-Patt Credit Union has announced that it is the first FI in the southwest Ohio region to add video teller services for its members. The CU debuted its first PTM on April 17 and this week opened a new member center equipped with three of the machines in the lobby and two more in the drive-through.
To date, the $2.61 billion CU has purchased 19 NCR Aptra Interactive Teller units. According to Wright-Patt COO Darrik Weeks, the machines are an important aspect of the credit union's expansion strategy (WPCU recently announced plans to enter the Columbus, Ohio market).
The PTMs are also expected to play a key role in increasing profitability for the CU. "In addition to providing an improved experience for our members, the cost savings of PTMs will allow us to drive profits back to our members," said Wright-Patt president and CEO Doug Fecher. "Centralizing the tellers provides cost reduction and improved, consistent service: a win for both the credit union and its members."
Members who have used the service have found it to be a positive experience, said Tracy Fors, WPCU vice president of marketing and business development. "Members really enjoy using this new technology. Comments range from 'It's like a live ATM' to 'wild, cool experience'."
Weeks said that members appreciate the feeling of security a PTM offers when making deposits and the ability to withdraw amounts over the standard ATM cash withdrawal limits. To help ensure member satisfaction with the PTMs, WPCU has hired seven "concierges" to assist them with banking transactions as needed.
"NCR APTRA Interactive Teller is letting credit union members conduct transactions in a simple and friendly environment," said Brian Bailey, vice president and general manager of NCR branch transformation. "Wright-Patt Credit Union is taking an innovative and forward-thinking approach to providing banking services to its members, as one of the first financial institutions in Ohio to adopt remote transactional video. We believe their PTMs will be well received by their members."
