The World Giving Machines, vending machines sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints that allow people to make holiday donations to non-profits by buying items from the machines, has expanded to a total of 61 cities this year, a gain of 28 cities over last year, according to a report in thechurchnews.com.
The machines will be installed in seven countries this year — the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, Guatemala and the Philippines.
The machines will remain in some cities temporarily while others will stay in the same spot for the entire Christmas season.
More than 250 nonprofit organizations will participate in hosting the machines this year — surpassing all previous years combined.
People can also make donations online.
