NEW YORK - The union of some of the technology sector's leading players will provide the world's financial leaders with easy telecommunication access at the World Economic Forum, which starts Jan. 31 in New York.
Management services organization Accenture, computer manufacturer Compaq Corp., and software giant Microsoft teamed up to create a wireless network for the show, which will bring together 2,000 government and business leaders from around the world.
The network includes 50 kiosks, designed and built by Accenture with Compaq computers and Microsoft operating systems. The kiosks will relay regularly updated information on the forum along with video replays of conference events.
The network will also include Compaq pocket computers that attendees can use for messaging and retrieving information on the forum.
The forum, which will focus on leadership issues in the wake of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, runs through Feb. 4.
