Chelsea Concha, a Los Angeles based women's health care activist, developed a period protection equipment kiosk that dispenses boxes of tampons pads and underwear for free in public restrooms, according to a popsugar.com report.
VonChaz, whose non-profit organization goes by the name #happyperiod, installed the first machine at a Compton, California community center in partnership with the city.
She has since gotten the machines installed in schools and shelters with the support of companies like Cora, The Honey Pot Company and Thinx.
VonChaz is trying to get more corporate donors in order to put kiosks in airport and middle school restrooms.
She is also developing virtual educational materials, including a period-care and self-care e-book and workbook, which are available at her website.
She is also developing a menstrual health curriculum for school districts.
