Individuals struggling with opioid addiction can access free Narcan, a nasal spray that reverses opioid overdose, at a vending machine in the lobby of the Rock County, Wisconsin sheriff's office at 200 E. U.S. Highway 14 in Janesville, according to a fox47.com report. The lobby is open 24/7.
A QR code on the machine allows the user to activate a two-minute training video about the signs of an overdose and how to use Narcan. Users then follow instructions to dispense a box of Narcan.
There is also a QR code that allows users to take an anonymous survey.
The Rock County Human Services Department provided the machine at no cost to the public, while the state provided the free Nacan kits.
Nearby Dane County last week approved a $750,000 initiative to expand Narcan kits.
