Wisconsin companies develop kiosk temperature scanner

June 17, 2020

Central Office Systems, based in Waukesha, Wisconsin, has teamed with an events planner to develop a kiosk that can detect fevers in visitors, according to a post on the company website.

The Pyrexia Thermal Kiosk developed by Central Office Systems and manufactured by Exciting Events, a New Berlin, Wisconsin events planner, scans people before they enter the office and provides temperature readings to ensure no one is running a fever.

"I think it's going be more than just the whole COVID-19 thing,” Art Flater, Central Office System’s vice president of sales, said in the post. “People used to come in and say, 'I'm going power through my work day. I'm sick but I can handle it.'"

The kiosk will include an informational monitor and markings for the floor so employees know where to stand, according to a WISN-TV report.
