Wis. bike manufacturer customizes footwear with kiosk
September 2, 2008
Internet Retailer: Bicycle manufacturer Trek Bicycle Corp. is using a Web-enabled, in-store scanning system to get perfect dimensions of customers' feet. The dimensions are used to match with customized-footwear insoles. The 3-D TruCapture Kiosk Scanning System from Scottsville, Ariz.-based eSoles, is designed to produce dimensions within 2.5 minutes. Store clerks can either match a customer's dimensions with available eFit footbed components for a customized fit in-store, or order a fully customized ePro footbed. Trek, based in Waterloo, Wis., plans to offer the scanners at 50 of its top dealers in the United States, plus another 40 to 50 retailers in Europe and Asia.
