Winter freeze disrupts solar parking kiosks in Canada

Freezing temperatures have caused solar powered parking meters to malfunction in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada according to a sootoday.com report.

A city spokesperson said parking enforcement agents are showing some leniency.

The city transit manager said the meters had been tested in cold climates when installations began in 2014.

Some machines are awaiting parts, according to city spokesperson Tessa Vecchio.

Meanwhile, the city parking app still works, although not all residents use the app.
