Wincor powers up BEETLE with Intel processors

AUSTIN, Texas -- Kiosk, ATM, and point-of-sale (POS) solutions provider Wincor Nixdorf Inc. has teamed with leading processor manufacturer Intel Corp. to improve processing options for Wincor's BEETLE family of POS systems.

Wincor is adding the Intel Pentium III 1GHz processor to its standard list of options for the BEETLE /M and /XL-II systems. Previously, the systems utilized Pentium III 866MHz processors.

Wincor officials said the move would boost processor options for the BEETLE family, which has more than 600,000 installations worldwide. The BEETLE products share a technology platform based on the same motherboard and chipset, according to Wincor officials, meaning any BEETLE products can be configured to include the Pentium III 1GHz processor.

BEETLE POS systems can be configured for use in a wide range of applications, including kiosks and thin-client POS systems.
