BERLIN -- Wincor Nixdorf's Virtual ShopWindow received top honors for innovation at Equipmag 2002, Europe's third largest IT trade fair, according to a company news release.
The Virtual ShopWindow was installed at Berlin's Galeria Kaufhof department store in May. The interactive shop window offers customers information on products and services 24 hours a day. Carina, a virtual person, leads shoppers through the Web-based Virtual ShopWindow program with voice and gestures.
The project includes touchscreen functionality and multimedia animation, according to the release.
Wincor Nixdorf plans to roll out its Virtual ShopWindow in other sectors, including tourism, auto sales, banking and real estate.
