Wincor Nixdorf wins lottery contract

November 7, 2004

PADERBORN/MUNSTER -- Wincor Nixdorf will equip all lottery outlets from Germany's state lottery company, Westdeutsche Lotterie GmbH & Co. OHG (WestLotto) with 4,300 new Xion/Mtop terminals in early 2004.

The company will also install the new Xiload download servers that download software updates to the lottery terminals during operation, according to a news release. The order marks Wincor Nixdorf's breakthrough in Germany, said Karl-Heinz Stiller, the company's president and CEO.

"Other German lottery companies are due to replace their terminals in the near future and with this in mind, WestLotto is an excellent reference to have," Stiller said in the release.

The Xion/Mtop is compact and features an integrated, high-performance scanner and the possibility of integrating other modules. Barcode, smart card and hybrid card readers, various drives and a branding module for use in marking and voiding canceled tickets also are available, according to the release.
