Wincor Nixdorf wins corporate creativity award

January 7, 2007

PADERBORN, Germany — For successfully introducing self-service systems with an intelligent deposit function, Interbank Peru has won an award from auditing and consulting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers for "corporate creativity" in the banking services segment. Wincor Nixdorf had integrated 115 multifunction automated teller machines, at which customers can deposit checks and cash and pay bills.

A special feature is that the systems can accept and dispense bank notes and coins in two currencies. Self-service technology will permit the high volume of transactions at the bank's counters to be scaled back progressively. The prize ceremony was held in Lima at the end of November.

To date, 115 Wincor Nixdorf ProCash 2100xe systems have been installed across Peru at Interbank's subsidiaries and at off-premise locations. Two currencies, Peru's Nuevo Sol and the U.S. dollar, are accepted by the self-service system. Up to 50 bank notes per transaction can be accommodated by the machines. When payment is by check, the amount is posted instantly and a receipt printed out. Bank customers without a bankcard need only press a button on the ATM to proceed with their transactions.

Interbank Peru is one of the country's four largest financial institutions. With more than 110 subsidiaries in Peru, it operates some 550 ATMs.
