Wincor Nixdorf picks Intel for POS processing

AUSTIN, Texas - Retail and banking solutions provider Wincor Nixdorf Inc. has joined forces with leading computer chip manufacturer Intel in the development of its next generation of BEETLE point-of-sale (POS) systems.

Intel's 815E motherboards will be available on all BEETLE models, which can be allocated in kiosks, lottery terminals, and POS terminals.

The new system is expected to deliver faster processing speeds (up to 866MHz with a 266MHz system bus), driver compatibility with older systems, and simplified service requirements.

"The Intel 815E-based POS platform offers more value and higher performance for demanding retail applications," Jeff Soisson, Wincor Nixdorf USA president and chief executive officer, said in a news release.
